My introduction to midwifery began when I was present at my mother’s home births of my two younger brothers. This established in me a deep knowing that birth is normal, safe and sacred. My interest in midwifery resurfaced during my gap year of traveling. I had the opportunity to spend three months volunteering at a birth center in a small village on the island of Bali. I witnessed babies being born into warm tubs of water with fragrant flowers floating around them. While tropical storms thundered outside, the families would sing to their new babies as they entered the world. My heart opened to the miracle of the birth process and I found my calling to midwifery.
In 2009, I moved from my southern California home to Portland and attended Lewis & Clark College There, I took classes in Anthropology, Art and Gender Studies. Longing to be near birth again, I answered my midwifery calling and transferred to Birthingway College of Midwifery in 2012. I apprenticed at a large, busy birth center in the heart of Portland and then with a small, rural home birth practice based in Canby. In 2016, I earned my Bachelors of Science in Midwifery from Birthingway College. I am credentialed as a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and am licensed in the state of Oregon as a direct-entry midwife (LDM) and Washington as a licensed midwife (LM).
I have had the privilege of learning from many wise, skillful midwives and strong mothers. I continue to be astounded at the amazing love and courage it takes to bring a baby into the world. I am honored to be a guide and a protector of this rite of passage.
When I’m not busy catching babies, I love to cook, knit and pursue many skills of an urban homesteader. I live in North Portland with my soon-to-be husband and our orange cat.

My story of home birth began in the green mountains of Vermont. Growing up, I was fortunate to witness the intimate and precious home births of both my brother and sister. These experiences revealed my path as a birth worker and ignited my desire to serve clients in their most powerful and vulnerable moments.
After exploring anthropology, art history, and fashion design in my undergraduate years, my path soon returned to birth work. In 2012, I moved with my husband and pup to Portland and enrolled in the Midwifery Program at Birthingway College of Midwifery. In 2017, I graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Midwifery. I am a Certified Professional Midwife (CPM) and licensed direct-entry midwife (LDM) in the state of Oregon.
In 2018, after assisting other midwifery practices in the area, I joined Sarah at Homespun Midwifery as a partner. I continue to be fulfilled by serving our incredible clients as their families grow. Attending births builds my trust over and over in the body’s ability to transform and heal. I honor the opportunity to hold space for reflection and potential growth during the childbearing year. In addition, I respect the responsibility of being a guardian of safety during the childbearing year and recognize what a privilege it is to facilitate an experience that best supports our client's wishes.
When not engrossed in the birth world, I enjoy spending time with my husband and my dog, playing in the great outdoors, beading jewelry, eating delicious food, and making our home in NE Portland.
